I have to admit that this is the first book of Alix Nichol’s that I have read. I found the story was one I was able to enjoy.  Daughter of a Russian oligarch, Lena is not what you would expect. She is a ‘down-home’ girl, not snobby or uppity.  She loves her father, although he can be a bit ‘overbearing’. Then you realize it is only his love for her and making sure she is ok in the city of love.

Lena moves to Paris to leave behind her ex-boyfriend and concentrate on writing her thesis. She is in the city she loves and isn’t really looking for love or romance. She really just enjoys reading and translating poems by Russian pet Marina Tsvetaeva.

Then Rob comes into the story and everything changes.  Lena isn’t looking for love, so when Rob enters the picture, the story takes off.

Although the story took me a little while to get into, I am so glad I kept reading. It wasn’t long until I couldn’t put the book down. Alix Nichols has a way of making you feel like you are a part of the story. You want to root for Lena, and then root for Rob.

Rob is a waiter in the Bistro La Boheme, where all of the college students frequent.  He is trying to make sure he has money for his college tuition, and while doing so meets Lena.

I enjoyed how Alix Nichols made you feel that you were in the Bistro La Boheme. I have never visited Paris, but during her book I felt like I was right there, watching it all unfold. Her writing style is not only enjoyable but makes you feel what the characters are feeling.

I am not one that likes to spoil a good book, so you will have to read it to enjoy it as much as I did. This is Book 1 in the “Bistro La Bohème” series.

About the Author:Alix_coffee_VS - copie

I am an avid reader of chick lit, romance and fantasy, caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy/Colin Firth fan.

I released my first book at the age of six. It had six postcard-size pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper. The book was titled “Eliza and Robert” and had atrocious mistakes in every single word. Some words were written in mirror image. Unintentionally. I remember being immensely proud of my creation.

Turns out there’s a remarkable constancy to my life: decades later, I still love the name Robert and the genre romance. As for my spelling and grammar, they are only marginally better than at age six (thank God for editors!).

I live and work in Paris, France. When not writing, I read romance (what else?) and spend time with my family.
