5 Forms of Self-Sustaining Energy That Are Consumer Friendly

In the United States, around 20% of our electricity is renewable and self-sustaining.

Self-sustaining energy is essential to the future of the world. Being able to produce energy without burning fossil fuels can help reverse a lot of the damage to our climate. Instead of depleting irreplaceable resources as we did in the past, modern technology has unlocked amazing renewable resources.

Here are five types of self-sustaining energy that we could use that are cheap and easy to produce:

Hydroelectric Power

In order to generate hydroelectric power, all you need is moving water. The water is scooped up by a pipe or dam, and then the flow is forced to reduce in size, which increases the force and speed. This water then turns into a water wheel which can activate a generator or alternator to produce energy.

This technology is available on a large scale, like Niagara falls power plant, but also in micro-sizes for homesteads and off-grid living. As long as rivers flow, they can provide sustainable energy.

Wind Energy

All across the world, temperature variances cause the wind to blow. There’s never a time when our atmosphere isn’t churning, so the wind is always blowing the higher up you go. Wind generators harness this energy by having the wind turn a turbine, which in turn powers a generator or alternator.

Small, home-sized wind generators are becoming less expensive and easier to install. There have also been improvements in how much energy they can produce.

Biomass Energy

While not as clean as some other sustainable energy systems, biomass does offer a means to both provide energy and reduce pollution. It harnesses leftover biomatter, like wood and food waste, to be burned in order to generate power. The only downside is the burning of waste.

Tidal Energy

Tidal energy is an amazing source of power that is only beginning to be harnessed by sustainable energy companies. It harnesses power based on the fact that water constantly moves in and out against the shore. This flow of water is then used to turn generators or alternators and produce energy.

Of course, there are some geographical limitations to this type of energy production, but with most human populations living near the coast, it should be easy to implement.

Solar Energy

Solar energy has been around for decades and has improved every year since it was first invented. Able to generate thousands of watts off of a simple home system, solar energy services, like Blue Raven solar produce clean and safe energy. A self-sustaining energy solution that most homes in the United States could use.

Solar energy is cheaper now than ever, and it is easier to use with the advent of better controllers and lithium battery banks.

Self-Sustaining Energy

From climate change to the cost of energy, self-sustaining energy can change or even save the world. Reduce your energy bills while helping to curb emissions and other harmful pollutants by using renewable energy.
