Don’t Fear Failure. Be Afraid of Not Having the Chance,

Although I will be not giving away any spoilers in this Cars 3 review, well at least before the movie has been out for a bit.  You will probably find my review a bit different than the normal…the movie was about this and this happened.  The reason is that I took away so much more from this movie than I have from many movies I have seen lately.

While growing up I had a Dad that always encouraged me to reach for the stars.  My Mom was always supportive, but my Dad was always talking about doing the best you can.  He would tell me to always, “think big”, “if you want it bad enough you will find a way to get it”, “don’t give up”….and while watching Cars 3 I kept hearing my Dad’s voice.

My Take Away

While watching Cars 3 I started to realize how much Lightning McQueen’s ‘car life’ at this point in his career mirrors my own.  In my line of work, things are always changing.  If you don’t keep up with what is going on, you will get left behind. This is what Lightning McQueen is facing during Cars 3.

With me, I have struggled with life continuing to move forward and I am not sure I am moving forward.  Not so much the age part but the ‘not doing everything I want to do before I am too old’.  What I took away from this movie is you have to consistently reinvent yourself.  Notice I didn’t say constantly but consistently.  If things aren’t going the way you want then possibly it is time to try something new.  You can keep where you are but you will most likely find yourself just spinning your wheels.

Giving up isn’t an option to me.  You can get upset about what is going on.   But unless you do something about it, you have no one to blame but yourself.  Complaining or trying to game the system isn’t going to get you further faster, it will just leave you frustrated.  You have to consistently keep yourself in the race, and when you find that isn’t working, you may have to then reevaluate what isn’t working and figure out what will for you.  Don’t get left behind because you are afraid of moving forward.
