Favors and Lies Review
Disclosure: I was given an ebook copy of this book in order to facilitate my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
What can I say about Mark Gilleo? His writing is magnificent. Favors and Lies is proof of that. When an author can grab me right away in the beginning of the book, I know it is going to be a great book. With 7 awards under his belt for his writing, there is no doubt just how wonderful his writing is.
This story is set in the DC Metropolitan area, Gilleo gives an expressive image of the city full of mystery through the eyes of Dan Lord. Keeping me glued to the pages from the beginning, Dan is seemingly one step ahead of everyone else in the race to see what is happening in the world around him.
When Dan’s nephew, Connor, who is at the American University and sister-in-law are found dead in separate locations only days apart. Then the lead police detective is found murdered, his soon to be retired partner, Earl Wallace, secretly begins investigation his partner’s murder. Dan follows leads about his family’s death and others as the body count increases. The story opens full speed ahead into a thrilling and cleverly plotted, intense and gripping story that unravels and keeps you going until the end.
I would recommend Favors and Lies to anyone that enjoys a great mystery!
