After Some FROZEN FAIRY BANKS I Needed Speed #NFSmovie
*While on my all-expense paid trip to LA last month, we were taken to see Need for Speed in the theatre. Although provided by Disney at no expense; all opinions are 100% mine.*
I have to admit when I heard DreamWorks Need for Speed was coming to the theatres, I just planned on it being another ‘fast cars’, racing for money or ‘pink slips’. When we were told that we were going to an advanced screening of Need for Speed, I was excited at the chance to check it out. I was also excited when we were offered to get popcorn and I got a huge slushy!, as you can tell, it doesn’t take much to make me happy. (compliments of our Disney leaders)
My Take on It
I have seen many a mixed reaction to this movie. For myself ? I really enjoyed it. I don’t know if it was the storyline regarding Aaron Paul’s character just getting out of prison? Saving his father’s auto shop?, or the intertwined ‘love’ story that seemed to be unfolding as the movie went on.
It might have been a predictable plot, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. I ‘almost’ punched another blogger next to me (not sure what made my left arm fly to the left just missing his head), but Wallach & Willis are still good. I tried to hide a few tears; can’t let people I just met the day before see me cry.( Yeah I got a popcorn skin stuck on my tonsil, that is why I was crying…not.) You have heard critics say before “I laughed, I cried”, but I will add, and I sat on the edge of my seat. I think it is a great ‘date-night’ movie, not targeted towards children, like FROZEN and Pirate Fairy. (which I will be reviewing at a later time). You will have to see it for yourself, as it is now in theaters as of today, March 14th. Let me know what you think after seeing it!
Here is one of the many parts of the movie I enjoyed:
A Little About the Movie
The film centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar mechanic who races muscle cars on the side in an unsanctioned street-racing circuit. Struggling to keep his family-owned garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to car broker Julia Maddon (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey’s shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his business out West.
Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of underground racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. With the help of his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.
