Help Make it Happen: Murder Your Darlings: A Short Film
Have you ever met a teenager that KNOWS beyond a shadow of a doubt what they want to do for their career? They have already started working toward that goal throughout high school, and have even freelanced in that area. Then when it is time to decide what they will do after high school, instead of thinking they can do this career without any further education , they find a way to go to college in this career choice.
This person has never failed to impress me in this past year. He is a hard worker, and even when his projects don’t always go as planned, he continues to move forward. Whether it is an idea that is possibly not the “right time” or some of his cast back out at the last moment. He doesn’t give up. For being 18, his work ethic is one I wish I saw in many adults, let alone in people his own age. Tristen’s latest project is a short film called, “Murder Your Darlings”.
Small synopsis of Murder Your Darlings: A Short Film
“Murder Your Darlings is a short, art-house styled film based on the French New-Wave Movement with the idea that everyone is replaceable. Now, obviously it will be open to interpretation, but that’s part of the fun.” -says Tristen.
Production and Time Crunches
Tristen mentions, “What is needed to produce this film is the small budget of $2,000. This will cover all of the production equipment costs. In mid-August, myself and everyone included will be off to college and therefore, we have such a small time to do this. All of the actors and actresses I’ll be hiring, offered to do this for free, and the production will be so small that it should be a simple shoot, but getting the correct equipment will be the price.”
You can get a quick glimpse of what this film is about in this video:
The time it takes to produce even a short film can be labor intensive, (schedules, volunteers who want to help, and the correct equipment), not to mention the time involved to get everything just right. The talent and determination that Tristen, the producers and the actors display is incredible. So incredible that I wanted to reach out and help Tristen and his staff get one step closer to their goal. I donated to his equipment costs at this link: Indie Go Go: Murder Your Darlings: A Short Film, if you are interested, or would be so kind in helping a young artist complete one of his goals before going off to college at the end of August, I would appreciate it very much. Tristen will be furthering his education at SUNY Purchase this fall, and I am just so proud of him to follow something he is so very passionate about.
Donations are accepted at the link up above. There are different ‘rewards’ depending on how much you donate. You can donate as low as $10 or as much as you would like. His campaign for this will close on July 25, 2014 (11:59pm PT). This will allow for the time needed to complete this project before they all head off to college.
I would really like to show Tristen and his production talent just how supportive my readers are when it comes to an up and coming talent. I just know that in years to come, one day you can say “I helped Tristen when he was 18, and look at him now! I truly believe Tristen will continue on his way to be a very well known film maker in time.
Again if there is any way you can help donate to this very exciting goal, Tristen and his production talent are trying to reach, I will really appreciate it, and so will they!
My Incentive:
Also for every one of my readers that donate (no matter what the amount), and Tristen reaches his goal amount, I will have a giveaway. Prize announced when the goal is reached, and will only be able to be entered IF you are one of his contributors.
So please go to Indie Go Go: Murder Your Darlings: A Short Film where you can follow his You Tube account, his fan page and see how you can help a future film maker. There are also rewards depending on what you donate. If for any reason you just can’t help out, would you be so kind and share via one of the share buttons above? They still need $1870 to reach their goal. Let’s show them the power the readers of “What U Talking Bout Willis” can accomplish.
Thank you!
