On Monday, February 29, at 8pm est, the National Geographic will be airing commercial free, “He Named Me Malala”.
This movie is not only touching, it pulled at my heart strings and actually made me ache for her, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. When I heard about this back when it happened I felt terrible the horrific ordeal that she went through at such a young age. Honestly, any age, it would be easy to just want to give up. But she didn’t, and has continued to tell her story. The fight, the courage that it took for her to stand up for something she truly believed in speaks volumes. I am not sure how many people would do what she did. The movie is such a great testament to what she stood for, and how hard she worked to overcome this horrible event in her young life.

HE NAMED ME MALALA is an intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. The then 15-year-old was singled out, along with her father, for advocating for girls’ education, and the attack on her sparked an outcry from supporters around the world. She miraculously survived and is now a leading campaigner for girls’ education globally as co-founder of the Malala Fund.
