Shutterfly Helped Us Celebrate Our Parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary

50th Wedding Anniversary with Shutterfly

With Shutterfly, I knew I was in good hands when it came to preserving some memories for my parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary party.

**Disclosure-I was able to order a personalized photo book and the “50 Years ago” pictures from Shutterfly in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

Not to mention it would be a memory book they could look back at for years to come.  I had seen a photo book made with photos for a birthday occasion months ago.  So it wasn’t surprising when I was thinking about what I could contribute to the party that I thought of Shutterfly and what they offered on their website for occasions such as this one.shutterfly then now

When I first got to their site I went and looked at what they offered for a 50th Anniversary book.  I did get side tracked for a bit looking at all of the birthday options, summer vacation books and well they have so many ideas to choose from I have some ideas for the future. But let me get back to the book I did make.

shutterfly-where to start

Their anniversary book came with 20 pages, in six different sizes (I chose the 8″x11″).  They also offer soft cover, hard cover, and a premium cover.  I chose the hardcover as I wanted to make sure it could stand the test of time.  I am so glad that I did because it made it look even more special than what I think a soft cover would have.

These are just two of the pictures above that I used in the book. I didn’t have to resize them before shutterfly sidebar choicesuploading them to make the book.  I was also able to add text, backgrounds, and embellishments (as they call them).

You can see to the left that it gives you choices as to how many photos per page you can choose (layouts), which then gives you options of how you want those photos arranged on those pages.

You can choose from many backgrounds and it offers you idea pages to look at also.  You can add pages if you go over your 20 pages and at the top, it will show you the cost as you add more so that you know what your total is coming to. I did like this features as the farther I went I didn’t want to add too many pages and make it out of my budget.  So I decided to not include the grandchildren’s graduations  and leave that to a video I was making with photos.

The process was easy once I gathered the pictures I wanted to use.  I took pictures of old pictures so some were not as “clear” as I wanted but this was not due to Shutterfly.  I mean many were over 35 years old or more but taking the pictures of the pictures with my iPhone worked perfectly for the book. I put them in a folder called 50th Anniversary book so that I had easy access to upload them without searching my folders etc.

As you can see above I was able to add script words and put them together or I could have just put “children” instead of “our children”.  The blank-ish box you see on the lower left is where I could have put text but since I chose not to, that box didn’t show up at all in the finished book. From the time that I put my order in under it showed up at my backdoor, I had my book well within the week.  This was another advantage of working with Shutterfly. Their attention to detail is excellent and I would recommend them to anyone.

Shutterfly 50 Years Ago

My sister-in-law came across a template for “50 Years ago on September 10, 1966″, she found it on Etsy and the creator personalized it for her.  It was such a neat idea, but when it came to printing it on paper it was flimsy, the color faded and it curled.  So while I was looking at the ideas for the memory book I thought I could also look what type of printing they offered on their website. I ordered 11 8″x10” sizes as we wanted to put one on each table and frame one for my parent’s to keep.  The prints turned up so crisp and clear which made them perfect as well as just the way I imagined they would turn out. They also looked nice both laying on the table and in the frame.

Make sure you stop by Shutterfly for your printing and memory book needs.  You will also find so many more options to commemorate that special day or occasion in your or a family member’s life.
