Why attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival is fun

The month of November is an exciting time for the world of horseracing in Australia. The Melbourne Cup carnival begins at the end of October with Victoria Derby Day. This race kicks off the week of the Melbourne Cup carnival, which ends on the following Saturday with the Mackinnon Stakes. In between the two days are the VRC Oaks Day and the ultimate race, the Melbourne Cup, held on a Tuesday.

Everyone is dressed to impress

There is a certain ambiance in Melbourne during this time, which creates a sense of excitement for anyone who is in town. The fashion events, such as the Myer Fashions on the Field, which continues throughout the Carnival, have become an iconic fixture of this prestigious week in racing. Everyone is decked out in their best clothes, and the people who participate in this esteemed event showcase the very best of what the fashion world has to offer. This shows that there is much more to the Melbourne Cup carnival than you would initially think.

Ladies have their own day

Oaks Day, which occurs on the Thursday after the Melbourne Cup, is also known as Ladies Day, where women and men dress to the nines and celebrate a great day with bubbles and gourmet food. Oaks Day is a lavish event at Flemington Racecourse and should be attended at the very least once. If you have a passion for horseracing, then some Oaks Day betting should be on the table. With a $1million Group1 race taking place on the day, there is more than enough potential to have a flutter. Be sure to buy a pink rose on your way into Flemington Racecourse, as it is the race’s official flower.

Families can enjoy the races together

Mackinnon Stakes Day is also known as Family Day, and it occurs on the Saturday after the Melbourne Cup. It is a time where you can bring the whole family to the races and enjoy a picnic or some marquee time if you have the extra cash. If you want to introduce your kids to the world of horseracing, then Stakes Day is the time to do so. The thrill of the races with the horse thundering down the track and the jockeys in all their bright colors can give your child an experience to never forget.
