How Do You Pose a Wedding Dress?

How do you pose a wedding dress

If the idea of taking lots of photos on your wedding day is driving you nuts you are not alone. After all, you are not a professional model that you have mastered hundreds of poses and you most probably not used to being in front of a camera for a long time. But the good news is we have prepared you some of the best poses to use on your wedding day.  Check them out:

  • Find your best side

I know you are beautiful just the way you are and you love your face just the way it is. But there is a huge possibility that you have a side that you like better than the other even if you have not known which yet. Ask your best friend to take some photos of you or you can alternatively take some selfies and practice posing with your face titled in different directions. Check the photos and you are going to identify the best ones and once you get the best side, then keep posing with it. That way, you are going to perfectly pose with your wedding dress.

  • Contour your face

The fact is a perfect photo is all about the angle in which it was taken in. A picture that is taken when you are looking directly to the camera will eliminate the shadows and this will help contour your face. But that doesn’t mean you have to keep staring at the camera always, sometimes try to tilt your chin a little bit either up or down and turn your cheek to the best side and that will also help your face look a bit more chiseled.

  • Smile naturally

Some people just smile for the camera but if you want to make the best out of your pose you should try to smile naturally. When you force a smile and smile largely, your cheeks will puff out and the eyes will squint and trust me, that’s not a flattering pose. Instead, try to relax your face and open your mouth slightly thinking of something that makes you smile. You know, something like spending the rest of your life with the love of your life.

  • Avoid the double chin

A double chin can ruin a picture and to avoid it, make sure to elongate the neck by moving your head forward and then slightly lift your chin. You will know that you have gone a bit too far when you feel your neck creasing. While posing, try touching your tongue to the top of your mouth right there behind the front teeth and it might help you keep it cool.

  • Fake sleek arms

Most of the wedding dresses, as well as the dresses for the bridesmaids and guests, are usually sleeveless. Because of that, you may be tempted to keep your arms around your body or clasp them behind your back in order to camouflage the underarm jiggle. If you do that while you are posing for your wedding photos, it will make your arms seem bigger and your shoulders will look broader as well, something you don’t want. Instead of keeping your arms around your body or behind your back, try lifting them up to the sides far enough to give your triceps and biceps a breathing room.

  • Stand up straight

It is very possible that you will try to shrink into yourself when you are feeling self-conscious but by doing that you will be ruining your pose. Instead, try putting your shoulders back and your chest forward and then pull your belly towards your spine. It works out perfectly, it will make you look slimmer and more relaxed. Don’t forget to release the tension you might be having on your neck, shoulder, and jaw by taking a few deep breaths.

  • Try fake laugh

Fake smiles are obviously not flattering and we already identified that. However, the same cannot be said for fake laugh. As you pose for a picture try out a forced ha and then do it again and again. I know it’s ridiculous but that’s why it works. You will see how ridiculous it sounds and you will burst out laughing and so will the others and just like that an amazing photo will be taken and trust me, it will be a keeper!

  • Show your legs

Your legs are beautiful and the world needs to see the beauty. Even if you are wearing a very long dress or even a gown try to give some attention to your legs. You can try bending your knees just a bit and ensure look stiff or you can try crossing your ankles at the calves to elongate the legs and it will also make your hips appear a bit narrower. Professional photographers know how to capture your legs perfectly.

  • Relax

You don’t have to force yourself to laugh when there are lots of things that you can do to ensure that you are having a great moment while posing for your photos. If you want the photos to be the best of the best, trying making it real instead of posing. Have fun, laugh with people and just be you. You don’t have to look at the camera always, sometimes look at your lover and have a moment of love and then you can look back at the camera again. You can even have some dance with your love and some amazing photos will still be shot.

Even with all those amazing poses and everything your wedding photos might still not what you expected if you don’t hire Wedding Photographers who really knows what they are doing.
