Delicious Hot Chocolate: 2 Flavors Peppermint and Creme deMenthe
With the temperatures here in New York dipping down to the single digits at night. Sometimes only a high of 20 degrees during the day. Hot Chocolate becomes a favorite in our home; and has for many years. I wanted to share with you today 2 more favorite flavors we enjoy in our home; just by switching out 1 ingredient.
- 1/2 cup plain powdered coffee creamer
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup hard peppermint candy discs, crushed either in a blender, food processor or by placing candy in a small plastic freezer (ziplock) bag and tapping lightly with a hammer. OR for Creme deMenthe you can buy the Andes Candies and chop them up or you can find the bagged chopped candies in the baking section.
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate flavored drink mix like Quik or non-name brand
- 1/2 cup dry milk
- Mix together all of the above ingredients.
- If making the peppermint version use the crushed peppermint discs or use the Andes Candies type for the Creme deMenthe version.
- Once all mixed together, you can pour it into either a zip lock bag or sealed container for freshness.
- You can double or triple this if you want to keep it on hand, or if you want to make both why not make 1 mix of each?
- Great for Christmas morning, after sledding or just for a different type of hot chocolate.
- To make 1 8oz serving place 1 1/2-2 tbsps mix into cup.
- Add 1 cup boiling water.
- Stir until mixture is completely dissolved.
- Top with a scoop of Peppermint Ice Cream for Peppermint flavor, whip cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- For the Creme deMenthe you can add 1 scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, whip cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- *Peppermint flavor with a scoop of Peppermint Ice Cream is pictured above.
