Italian & Sage Meatloaf with Mrs. Dash

I was approached by a representative of Mrs. Dash to help spread the word about the Mrs. Dashionista Recipe Challenge! I was very pleased and excited as I really enjoy Mrs. Dash in place of salt and pepper. You can’t beat the flavor, and knowing it is a better alternative than salt is a plus too!  Looking back my Grandpa Ryan always had ‘no salt’ on the little lazy susan in the middle of the table. He would have loved Mrs. Dash.

I do not make meatloaf very often but when I do, it always seems like the same old thing. So with the ability to incorporate Mrs. Dash to not only the meatloaf but my baked potato too! Below is my recipe which is easy to follow; as long as you don’t mind putting your hands into the meat mixture as my husband does. 🙂

It turned out delicious and I also topped my baked potato with the Original Mrs. Dash, on top of the sour cream, margarine.  You can also separate your meatloaf into individual sizes by putting them in mini muffin pans.

Serves: 5
Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour on a raised rack in a 13×9 pan if not it can site in the pan.
Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 # of hamburger
  • 1 cup or so of sage bread crumbs (we sometimes use croutons but I didn’t have any)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4- 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Italian Blend Mrs Dash
  • 1 tbsp Hamburger Mrs Dash
  • Salt & Pepper optional after you bake it; but I didn’t feel it was needed.
Instructions
  1. Put hamburger in a large bowl
  2. Add sage bread crumbs, 2 eggs, milk, kechup
  3. Mix /knead with hands and feel the ewwy raw meat-ok that isn’t nice- but its not a fun feeling.
  4. Once it all seems mixed, I then add 1 tbsp level of each flavor and keep mixing with hands.
  5. Drizzle ketchup if wanted or BBQ sauce on top and Bake.
  6. I wait for the salt & pepper part until after it is baked and sliced and have others salt & pepper to taste,
  7. I also used part of my meatloaf mixture and made a smaller one so my daughter could have BBQ sauce on top…as she isn’t a ketchup person.
